Solid braid cord is constructed in a 9 or 12 carrier (strand) configuration. This specific braiding method gives the cord a smooth even surface which holds it's shape under load and knots well. Solid braid's most popular applications are flagpole rope, rope handles, pulley rope, and starter cord rope. It is primarily manufactured from nylon, polyester, or cotton yarns depending on your specific need. Phoenix also offers wire center solid braid cord specifically for the flagpole industry. This cord is supplied in bulk put-up, spools or mini-spools, or cut to your specified length.

Nylon is one of the strongest and most versatile synthetic fibers used in this type of construction. Nylon's properties offer good elasticity and memory under heavy loads. It is resistant to abrasion, chemicals, and mildew rot. It is ideal for flagpole halyards, winch or pulley rope, and starter cord rope. This cord can be manufactured to meet U.S. Federal Specification MIL-C-43307.

Although similar in physical appearance to nylon, polyester has a lower stretch factor under load. Polyester is also resistant abrasion, chemicals, and mildew rot. Specific uses are for applications where low stretch is a necessity. This cord can be manufactured to meet U.S. Federal Specification MIL-C-43256.
